Guest post- and a FREEBIE!!!

Hi all!! I am Caitlin from Kindergarten Smiles and I am SO excited to be guest blogging on Elizabeth's wonderful blog today!!

We are now in our second week of school...I survived my first week! YAY! Since day one, I have been doing morning rotations with my students, but have not started full on reading groups yet. I want to make sure that all of my students understand my expectations and know how all of the centers work before we start.

Today I introduced a new activity that they can work on at the Word Work station and it was a HIT!! I printed out and used my magnetic letter sheets that can be found by clicking on the image below:

My class this year needs a lot of work on letter names and sounds. Because of this, I updated the file above to include upper and lowercase letters and beginning sound pictures.

I hung these sheets on my magnetic white board (but you may prefer to use a cookie sheet), and students had to find the corresponding magnetic letter and place it on the correct box. They had a blast doing this and I was so proud of how great they worked together to complete the activities!

I totally forgot to take pictures of my students working, but I have some great photos to share with you that Katie from Queen of the First Grade Jungle took when her class was working on the CVC words that are included in this pack.

I love this!! and so do the kids!!

I hope you are able to use this freebie in your class!! Thank you again to Elizabeth for allowing me to share with you today!!
