A number FREEBIE!

Are you getting geared up for school to start back??
I know I am!
I am feverishly trying to plan ahead and get all my ducks in a row again!
We start back to school on Thursday and I want to ease my kids back in to the routine of things.  Coming back from any kind of break is hard, especially long breaks like this one!
While we will be doing academic work, we will also be reviewing and practicing routines, manners and overall appropriate school behavior!! (Which all seem to be little things my kids forget over a two week break!)
First on my agenda when we get back will be some simple review of past skills we covered before the break.  I created this little worksheet that is differentiated into three levels! (I am all about differentiating to meet each of kid's levels, while still challenging them!)
So feel free to snatch up this freebie!! I hope you enjoy it!
I designed it to be a worksheet format or file folder game!

I'd love to know what you think!
Be sure to leave a comment and let me know if you think it will be useful in your classroom!
And as always, I'd love for you to become a follower if you aren't already!
It's the best way to be informed when I make a new freebie, run a sale and to just stay update with what's going on in my classroom!

A hard goodbye...and a little time!

Greetings from Kansas!
Are all of you enjoying your days after Christmas? Have you had enough lounging time?  Have you found any great deals during your after Christmas shopping sprees??? I hope so!

Yesterday was a hard day for our family. It was the day that my husband deployed again. It's such a hard day, not just for me, but more so for kids. Even though our daughter is five she really just doesn't understand why dad has to go. She doesn't understand where he's going, why he's going, or even when he'll be back. Our 18-month-old with just as pitiful. He kept seeing my husband's truck and saying "da da, da da". I guess I'm finally understanding when my mom used to tell me as a kid that being a parent is just hard sometimes. I say forget hard, it just plain out sucks at times like these!!

On a happier note, I tried to keep myself rather occupied yesterday and in doing so, I finally completed a big TPT activity I have been working on for some time. It's different activities all packaged together, all about time! This set is just time to the hour. I will be coming out with time to the half-hour soon! Take a look:

(And did I mention my whole store is on sale now???  Go and stock up!)

My perfect gifts!

I'm linking up with Learing With Mrs. Leeby for a fun little linky!
It's super simple and I had to get in on it!! All you have to do is answer the following questions::

What would be the perfect gift from. . .
1. Students
2. Kiddies
3. Husband/boyfriend
4. Parents/Family
5. BFF
6. Santa
Well here we go::
1.  From my students, the perfect gift would mostly anything made from pinterest!  I've had a few mom's make some pinterest crafts and they are the cutest things ever!!! Of course I'm addicted to pinterest and I've pinned about a million cute crafts---that I'll get to some day! lol...
2.  I love ANYTHING from my kids that is handmade---literally!  I just adore anything with hand prints on them! I'm a sucker for hand prints--no matter if it's plain, or decorated up, I love hand prints because I feel like it's just one of those things that mark that day in time.  No matter what, their hand prints are their own and are so special!  They change so quickly and I love knowing a piece of their childhood because we all know, they grow too quickly!

3. From my husband, I wish he could stay!! See, we are a military family--and yes, it's that time again, it's time for him to deploy!  It's the only sucky part of our marriage (and yes, I knew this going into it, but it still just sucks, ok).  He's due to deploy the day after Christmas.  I just want to be selfish and keep him home for me---and for our kids! It's going to be rough without him......

4. From my parents I would LOVE gift cards!  Yes, it's a secret I've had for years, but I am a gift card hoarder!!  I know crazy right--I mean it's free money and you're supposed to use it---but I have a hard time doing it! I always save it and tell myself I'll use it when I'm desperate---really desperate and in a bind...and then I never do!  (Don't tell anyone but I recently just finished up some gift cards that I've been hoarding since last Christmas....just in time to get new ones this year! Ha ha ha...)
5.  From my BFF, I would just love some girl time---you know---a spa day, manicures and pedi's! And maybe a glass or two of wine while we were at it! With multiple kids, it just seems like a juggling act sometimes to get schedules to coordinate! Aghhh,  a girl can dream right??
6.  Santa, I would love the following::: (I promise, I've been a good girl!)
A day off from work.
More hours in the day to create TpT games!
A huge TpT gift that was never ending would be great!
My personal chef that would make me fried rice everyday (yes, the good kind from the Japanese restaurants!)
A few more diamonds---they are a girl's best friend ya know!
Most importantly, I would love for my kids to healthy forever!!!  I'm a mess when my kids are sick and I would love it for them to stay sick-free this year! :)

Polar Express Day!

Today was our polar express day!
It's always a fun day at school because the kids think it's such a treat to get to wear their pajamas to school. (This best part this year was that I got to experience it with my daughter!  It was so awesome to lounge in our pj's and watch a movie together all morning!)

The day started off with watching the movie!
After we finished it, the students started working on some sheets from a great Polar Express pack I bought last year from Melissa Freshwater-- check it out here!
Take a look at some of the activities the kiddos did!
Gotta love those patterns!
Here, they had to roll a dice and color in the hot chocolate mugs with that number!
Students had to match the beginning sounds with the correct letter train car!
There are a lot more activities in the pack and we'll be working on those tomorrow!!

And what train ride would be complete without hot cocoa and a candy cane??
I treated the kids some hot chocolate, marshmellows and a candy cane---and they loved it!! They were all so grateful and very sticky by the time they were ready to go home!
This was their place set!
This little boy was so eager to put ALL of his marshmellows in his drink! lol....
I made sure to have them hold the cup when stirring so that we didn't have hot chocolate all over the table!  You could say I've learned a thing or two over the years!!

Honoring the memory of those taken too early...

After returning to work on Monday following the tragic events that happened last Friday, I decided to really take time and let me kids, just be kids! I vowed to let them do things I may not always make the time for--- starting with playing with play dough! I thought of it as my own personal way to honor the memory of those kids that will never get the chance to play again here on earth.
When I announced to my kids that they were getting to play with play dough, they were so ecstatic.
Look how fast their hand are moving!! They were all so grateful for getting time to play and they kept thanking me over and over!!
When I asked the little girl about all of the "people" she told me that they were all of her friends here at school and she loves them all so much---it made my heart melt!!!

I also let my students do something we hardly ever do--- and that would be using paint! While it was supervised paint interaction time, the kids still loved playing in the paint! All of the kids made these cute hand print reindeer ornaments!! They turned out so cute!!
Aren't they so cute!!! I love them and I know their parents will too!
Make sure you take time to really reflect on how even our worst days, don't compare to others' bad days!  Appreciate what you have, while you have it!!

Words cannot express my feelings....

Here I am...24 hours after the shooting in Connecticut and I sit here perplexed! I am like every other American who is so heart broken that words cannot begin to express how my heart hurts for everyone involved in this horrific incident.

It hits home to me in the fact that I'm a kindergarten teacher. I am that teacher who has 22 precious lives that others have trusted me with. I am responsible for not only their learning but for their well being too.

I cannot begin to fathom what those teachers felt yesterday morning. Their thoughts of how they were going to save all of their babies---how they were going to defend themselves against the intruder--- how they were going to do their best to be strongest protector they could be.
Of course we all run through horrible scenarios that could always happen in our classroom.  Those thoughts about how I would get my kids quiet, how I would shield them, or how I would try defend off the intruder.
Now matter how much we try to prepare to deal with horrific incidents that could happen, I don't think any of us could 100% say what we would do unless we were in that moment.
I pray for all of those families.  All of those parents who will celebrate this Christmas with one less child at home.  All of those families that will set one less spot at the table for dinner.  All of those families that have been changed forever.  I pray that with time, we find hope and the courage to go on.  I pray that God puts his hand upon each of those families that were effected yesterday by this tragedy! You will never be forgotten!!
I will also be among the TONS of fellow teacher bloggers who will be dedicating their blog page tomorrow to the silence for Sandy Hook Elementary!  I will simply post the icon and title and dedicate tomorrow to all of the brave adults and 18 little innocent kids who lost their lives!
Take a moment and give your babies and extra squeeze tonight!!

I finally have internet again...and what I've been doing!

Hello my dear friends!
So my computer has been out of commission for the past few days while my husband was building a new desk.  He had to disconnect all of the computer cords so I haven't had Internet on the house computers!  Needless to say, I have been out of the blogging world for a while.….and I didn't like it!

While I have been able to keep up with Facebook via my iPhone, it has just been treacherous trying to read blog posts on such a little screen. I'm happy to report my husband finished putting the desk together, it looks great and the computer is set back up back so that I may enjoy the blogging world again!!!

I don't know about you but my kids are so hyped up for Christmas break it's kind of unreal. All of the kiddos have been bouncing off the walls, getting into trouble, and just being down right rowdy. They know the break is near.  Six days till Christmas break folks, only six days!!!
I've been keeping busy around here though!  Ive been working on games that I hope my kiddos (and yours too) will love! Take a look at some of my latest creations:
First up is a game for vowel sorting in CVC words.  My kids are starting to really get the hang of sounding out words!  I thought this would be great for them to really practice sounding out words and categorizing them based on their vowel.  I have included 12 real words and 6 nonsense words for each vowel.

Next up, Mitten Math! My students are also getting into adding numbers.  I created this game where they practice adding numbers from 1+1 all the way to 10+10 (where no sum will be over 20.)

I personally love this combinations of colors!!
Lastly, a rhyming activity! The first part of this game has cards where the student will read the CVC words and determine if they rhyme.  They will mark their answer.  The last half of this set has cards where students will draw lines to rhyming words.

I hope you can use some of these games in your classroom!!
Let me know what you think of them!
