Throwback Thursday~ Making Pins Into Magnets!

Today I'm doing a "Throwback Thursday" post!
A few year ago I found some really cute pins that I wanted as I changed them! Read all about it below! :)

I hope that you can find a little inspiration here to be creative too!

The time is here!
Tomorrow is the day the teachers in my district report back to school!

While I'm not ready for the hours and hours of Professional Development meetings, I am ready to greet all of the new kiddos!

I've been working like a busy-working bee in my room!!
I'm so excited with how it's all turning out!
I was skeptical with all of the ocean decor (ocean is our school wide theme) but I think it's all starting to come together! Yay!!

A little project that I did today was unexpected but it turned out so cute!  I couldn't be happier with it!

Here's the back story: My son has been running a fever, we ran out of medicine so I decided to run by Walgreens before I went to work.  While at Walgreens, I *HAD* to walk through the school supply know that no teacher can deny a simple walk through an isle of brightly colored, nicely organized shelves of new school supplies!!!  While I was briskly walking though, I spotted the cutest pillows ever--look!!
I told you they were cute!!

After I stuffed those two pillows into my basket, I spotted my next my next great find--these adorable pins!
At first I thought they were magnets, which I was so excited about!  I always need cute magnet.  Imagine my surprise when I discovered that they were pins- whomp whomp whomp!!! (Insert sad face!)
Then it dawned on me, why don't I just MAKE them into magnets-duh!!!
So that's just what I did!

So first I turned them over and evaluated what I would need.
I found a heavy duty metal cutter and got to work removing all of the fasteners!
This is what they all looked like with the backing a removed.
All the trash!
I then got out the heavy duty magnets and the hot glue gun.
I glued the two parts together!
And here is the final product!
VoilĂ !!
They also go perfect with my new magnetic storage bags too!! Yay!

So just remember, if you find some cute pins, it super easy to turn them into beautiful magnets!! All you need is 10 minutes, some metal cutters, magnets and some hot glue!

My Rhyming Word Flip Book!

If you like flip books and you teacher rhyming words, I have just the thing for you!

As summer is slowly ending for most and school is gearing up, it's time to start thinking about some of the important skills when starting a new school year!

After you get the first few weeks (or months) of school mastered, we always dive into rhyming words! Students have heard them most of their lives in nursery rhymes and books, and now it's your chance to show them to the kids.

I've created this flip book to help students see how rhyming words relate (most of their endings are the same). I think flip books are a great quick and easy resource for students to reference when they need a refresher about a topic or skill.

Take a look at "My Rhyming Words" Flip Book!
I've included 2 kinds of covers, as well as 2 variations.
**Please note, this set contains rhyming words that end with -at, -ig, -og, and -et.**

These are just some of the pages that are included.
I've created a colored cover for you to choose....
...or a black and white cover to choose!
Which ever fits your budget or color copying criteria!!
In this set, I created two variations to choose from as well.

The first set allows the students to list out rhyming words on the left, draw a picture using one of those rhyming words on the right, and write a sentence with a rhyming word at the bottom.
The second variation allows students to write twice as many rhyming words and still write a sentence at the bottom using one of those words.
I've also included possible answers in case your brain freezes up during the lesson, which mine ALWAYS does!

Click here to view this flip book now in my TpT store!

And remember, you can always choose the size of the book that you want also!
You can print it on single sheets and have the booklet almost the size of printer paper as shown below. It's rather large but may be necessary for your kiddos!
Or you can change your printer settings a bit and print two to a page, as seen below!
On my laptop (which is a MAC), you go to print, then go right below 'orientation' and choose 'layout'. Be sure to choose 2 for the 'pages per sheet' and you should be ready to print!
Or from my desktop PC, it looks like this. Choose print, then choose the third option under page sizing which should be 'multiple'. Again, choose 2 page per page and I picked vertical for this set. Then you are ready to print!
I hope that you and your students find this flip book useful!

My plan is to make more literacy based flip books in the near future and even bundle them together too! Be on the lookout for them soon!!

Great Beginning Of The Year Books!

Hi friends!
I wanted to give you a quick update about my mom and my recent adventures!
As you may remember, my mom was due to have her big procedure a few weeks ago.
(Read here if you want to know about it!)

Well, I flew home, back to the States, to by her side while she had her double mastectomy.

(This is us right before they took her back to surgery! She had such high spirits still!)
The surgery took a few hours and went great. The doctor was super pleased with the results. The pathology reported noted that there were some live cancer cells still in her body, but the doctor feels secure that he removed what was left of them and that with her upcoming treatments of radiation, she will be completely healed soon.  The days following surgery were hard to say the least, but we made it! It was hard to see my mom in such pain but I am so glad I went!! I could not imagine being so far away while she was going through all of that!

I was home for about 3 weeks and it was so nice to see family and friends again, while nursing my mother back to health.

Another plus to being home was that I got to visit my favorite store again- TARGET!!!! There is nothing like a Target here in England, so I was in heaven as I walked all of the isles---and I do mean ALL of them!! I made several Target trips while I was home, always finding new stuff every time I went in--my bank account can attest to that!  Among some of my awesome finds were these...great back to school books!!

Take a look at what I found!!
I think they would make great additions to anyone's 'first day of school' plans and classroom library!
Be sure to check out your nearest Target, or bookstore, to add these books to your library collection!

Color Poems Are Here!

Happy summer guys and girls!!
(I sure hope it's summer for you still. Please don't tell me you've started school already...and if you have, bless your heart!)

I've been keeping busy lately!!
While trying to soak up these glorious days of summer, my creative wheels have been turning. I think having recently finished my Master's Degree has given my brain some free thinking time and my creative wheels have been in motion nonstop.

What I've been working on most recently was copying my color poems from my big color unit that I made last year! I've had so many request for them recently that I decided to pull them out and sell them as a stand alone pack.

The big color unit I made last year was this one:
Here is a peek of what's included!
It can be found by clicking here.

And here are the color poems that I pulled out.

And here is a sample of just a few of them!

Click here if you'd like to view them in my TpT store!

I do have to mention that I created all 11 of these poems on my own!! I'm actually very proud of how they all turned out. I think they are cute and I hope your students love them as much as I do! I think they would make a great supplement to any color unit that you teach!
