Our last days of school!

Wow!
It's hard to believe that I've been out of school for a week already!
Where does the time go???

I not going to lie, it has already been a great week of relaxing, starting our family's two week vacation and hanging out with family and friends! I apparently was a little more exhausted with school than I had even realized! I know that this summer will be a great 8 weeks to rejuvenate my teacher batteries and get me ready for next year! (And yes, the true teacher inside of me is secretly thinking ahead to how my room will look for next year!!)

I guess since it has been a week since I said goodbye to my sweet classroom kiddos, it's about time for me to post a few things we did in our final days! We had so much fun and me and my teammates really spoiled them with some sweet treats and fun activities! They all worked so hard this school year that we felt like they deserved a fun final week in kindergarten!!

First off, my teammates and I decided that for the last week of school (3 and 1/2 days) we should let them have a sweet treat everyday. Monday we gave them a popcorn party and a movie, Tuesday and Wednesday were Popsicle parties and Thursday was an ice cream party! We also had a bubbly party. The students made bubble wands out of pipe cleaners. We set out bubble liquid in pie tins and the students used their wands to make and blow bubbles!! It was so fun to watch them all!

Take a look at some of the fun pictures I captured:
Painting fun!
Play dough fun!
Free draw fun!
The toppings bar for the ice cream party.
Ice cream favors- vanilla, neopolitian, and chocolate chip!
It taste so yummy!!
Making bubbles with pipe cleaners!
It works beautifully!!

Lastly, I was sent this great picture on the last day of school--- and I found it so appropriate!!

I'll be enjoying some great family time on our vacation for the next few weeks!! If you're out for the summer, enjoy your time off and if you are still finishing up your school year, we are still cheering you on!! You can do it!!
I'll post again when we get back!
Love to you all!!

Our outside classroom!

How are you today?
Summer vacation is so close that I can almost taste!
We only have about 2 1/2 days left and then we have to tell her kiddos by for the summer.  It is a double edged sword, because as tired as I am and I want to have a break for the summer, I'm going to miss group of kiddos like crazy.

So what do you do when the weather turned so pretty outside and you just need to get out the classroom? You take the classroom outside of course.

We decided it was time to practice a little math….But we took the math outside! My teammates and I decided to let the kids practice simple addition using chalk on our playground. Ended and of course the kids thought they were in heaven! They really enjoyed being able to get outside do a little work and soak up some sun all of the same time.

Take a look at some of our kindergartners practicing their addition. They did great!

Field Trip Day!!

Today was a field trip day!
It's days like this that I'm convinced we teachers should be paid extra---something like an incentive pay! ha ha ha.... No one knows stress like a teacher who is trying to keep up with 23 five and six year olds!!  It's seriously like trying to heard cats--I'm not kidding---try it sometime!

We went to our local zoo. But it's more than a zoo-- it's a very interactive animal park.  It's probably only 1/10 the size of our local zoo in town, but it focuses on real interaction between animals and the guests. In fact, each student was given a token which allows them to buy food at different exhibits to feed the animals.

And yes, as you can imagine, the kids loved it!  It was a huge perk for the kids and it was a great selling point for our school when deciding where to go for our school-wide trip.

Do you remember tie-dyed shirts my kids made a few weeks back? Well today was the day they got to wear them and boy were they all super cute. It was so easy to find all of my kids at any given time. I just looked up and counted the purple shirts. It made life so easy for me.

Take a look at some of the pictures I snapped throughout the day!

We had a great time but of course, the bus ride was rather quiet on the way home!
The kids were exhausted and I'm predicting they will all sleep well tonight!!

American Soil Never Tasted So Sweet!

Hi blogging friends!
I know it's been a while since I've written but my life has completely changed him within the past few days.

I usually don't talk about my personal life too much but this is one experience I have to share with you.  And fair warning--this has NOTHING to do with school!

If you've been keeping up with my blog over the past months you know that my husband is Air Force and has been deployed. Well, the day finally came and he arrived back home to American soil! Yes my hubby came home… Finally! Our family was just not the same without him. It's so nice to have him home now. Needless to say, we've had tons of family time over the past few days, hence, my blogging absence!

I had a very elaborate plan for when he arrived. Everything from me meeting him at the airport, to him surprising our son at his daycare, to him surprising my daughter after school. It all went off without a hitch--- it all worked out so perfectly.

The surprises that he gave to my son and daughter were absolutely priceless! Yes, if you're wondering it did look EXACTLY like all the YouTube videos you see of the soldiers homecomings.  Just watching the videos, and even thinking about them, brings tears to my eyes. Our son was so shocked that he stood completely still for a few seconds trying to figure out if it was really his dad that he was seeing.  My daughter is a kindergartner at my school. I worked out an elaborate plan with many of my colleagues that I work with, to surprise her right after school got out for the day.  All of my colleagues were watching as my daughter came down one hallway, and my husband entered from the other end. Once she realized it really was her daddy she was seeing, she just ran to him with open arms as fast as her legs would move her. She plowed into him as she finally reached him and she began sobbing with tears and held onto him for dear life!  She was so shocked and surprised that she was actually speechless.

Here are a few pictures that were snapped from our wonderful day:
Me finally getting to hold him once again!
Us, together again!!
My son happy to see daddy again!
Our complete family!
Daddy and his babies!!

I would like to take a minute to thank all military members and their families! Too often we forget about those who are still supporting our country and their families who are supporting them! Whether you are in the military or you are keeping the lights burning at home for your spouse who is away, please know that we support everything you are doing and the sacrifices you are making!!
