FREEBIE 'time'!

Can you believe it's almost February??
WOW- January flew by!
I'm not complaining though---as you may know, my husband is currently deployed so the quicker the months fly by, the better!! With January over, it means I'm one month closer to being reunited with my true love!!! Oh, how I miss him.

Enough with the sappy stuff--- I know why you're really here!
It's freebie time again.

My students will be learning time to the hour soon and I decided to make a little activity for them. And of course, I love to share the love! I have included 2 different recording sheets---one to record the time with numbers, one to record the time with words (o'clock).

I'd love to know what ya think! Be sure to leave some love.
As always, thanks for being a loyal follower!
If you aren't a follower, I'd love for you to become one!!

The Body Venture Exhibit!

Today was a very exciting day at our school.
We had a traveling exhibit come to our school called Body Venture!

This exhibit is sponsored by the State of Kansas Health Department and our school received a grant to get it to visit us!!

The entire experience has the kids walk through what the human body looks like on the inside!  They start at the heads and work their way through the body ending right before where the waste comes out (even though I know the kids would have LOVED that part!)

The entire exhibit was set up on metal frames with very tight fabric around it.  The pictures were amazing and were very life like.  We had volunteers present at each station!

Take a look and see what the kids got to experience!!
They started by learning about the food groups!
Then they got to into the head.
They were shown what a brain looks like and talked about how to protect it!
They then entered into the mouth!
They got to sit on teeth as their seats.
They then got to practice brushing the big teeth and these two boys are using a rope to practice flossing between teeth!
They then moved into the stomach.  They talked about how it looks flat when it's empty and how its blown up when it's full.
They then went into the intestines.  They used a rope to demonstrate how long their intestines are!
Cool graphics and facts on the walls.
We then went into the heart!

They had to run for a minute and check their pulse to feel the blood moving in their veins!
They then moved into the lungs.  After talking about (and seeing) healthy and non-healthy lungs, the kids got to do a straw test.  They held their noses and blew through a small coffee straw.  They got to see how hard it was to breath through it--representing how hard your lungs  had to work when they are unhealthy by smoking!
They then moved into the bones section. They learned about what good foods make your bones strong!
Lastly, they ended by talking about their skin and how to take care of it!
 Cool skin graphics!
My kids had a blast with this exhibit!!
Each child was given a healthy snack at the end!

It was a total sucess and I know each grade level learned so much!!

My newest creation for dental health month!!

I don't know about you but it was a great Monday!!
It's the end of January and our temperature here in Wichita Kansas was 74° today!! It was a record high said the weather man! It was so nice that I took my class outside at the end of the school day to do our math lesson of measuring--- they loved it!!

I'm so excited to share my newest unit for dental health month!  You can use these for the entire month of February!!  It was definitely a labor of love and I couldn't be more proud of it! I hope you love it as much as I do!! It ended up being so big that I split it into a math unit and a literacy unit and then I bundled them together at a discounted the price!

Take a look a glimpse of what's in each unit!
First up, my dental health math unit:

Here is my dental health literacy unit:

I also bundled the two units together at a discounted rate!

I'd love to know what you think about them... feel free to leave comments! :)
I hope these units have you set for dental health month!!
Just print and you're ready to go!

I had money to spend so...

I wanted to take a quick moment to show you my newest goodies from a wonderful place....
Come on---admit it---you get excited when you get a box in the mail with this picture on it!!
And everyone knows that place is a teacher's paradise!!

Every year our school gives us about $100-$150 to spend on whatever we would like to buy for our classroom!
The money was just burning a hole in my pocket so I finally decided to spend it---and here are my goodies I purchased from my class!!

We are really focusing on middle sounds so this will be perfect for my kiddos!
My students have pretty much mastered patterns but this will be good for a little extra practice!  It will also be nice to have when school starts next year too!
We are starting time soon!
And we will be hitting measurement hard soon.
A nice little addition game--- great for partner work!
I already have the blue magnetic letters to use with these cards!  I was surprised that there were so many actual cards!!
I can't wait to use all of my new goodies!!
I'll be sure to keep on how much my kiddos love these new games!
