LOOK-- A facelift for my storage units!

My storage units get a facelift!

I'm still feverishly working away to get my room turned into a jungle--yes, that's our school wide theme this year.  With kids starting school next week and teachers reporting back today, I feel like my days to get everything ready are slipping away!

Summer is escaping me...NOOOO!!!! My pool days can't be over yet......
Back to reality, sorry, what was I talking about? Oh yeah, my classroom!

Well, I've been one busy little bee trying to transform EVERYTHING into jungle--one way or the other! I've tried to get creative since I'm such a cheap-o!

I briefly wrote about this in my last post but my one big secret for
transformations and creations in my room is.......
SCRAPBOOK PAPER!

Seriously people, it's so cheap (by the sheet-and is usually on sale too) and it comes in so many colors, textures, designs and sizes!  I even stumbled upon a whole pad of scrapbook paper that was titled 'jungle print'...so of course, I HAD to buy it! All of the pages in that package are so nicely coordinated and it's just perfect for all of my projects!

So on to my latest project....a facelift for all of my plastic 3-drawer storage units!
Since they are the first thing people see when they enter my classroom, I just knew that they needed to be updated.

This is what they looked like last year....
I used construction paper and made a sheet that fit just nice in front. It stayed standing upright because the paper was thick enough to to catch the little lip inside the drawer---and there is so much junk stuff in each drawer that it all held the paper in there nice and tight!

So here is what it looks like now!!!
Doesn't it look so good?? I just love how they turned out!
And, it ties in so perfectly with my bulletin boards too, right?
Can you tell how happy I am about this?!?!? You have no idea!

Here is a close up of a few of the units...

I just love that this transformation was so easy---it literally took me less than 10 minutes to trace the template onto the new sheet, cut them out and slip them inside the front of each drawer!

Leave me a message and let me know what you think about the final look!

And if you haven't already, be sure to become a follower and enter my giveaway!
It's $25.00 to Teachers pay Teachers!!! You know you could use it!!!

  6. Wow, this looks so pretty! I'm sure the kids will love it. Yeah, there's so much you can do with scrapbook paper. Nothing screams jungle than those animal prints. What are your other plans to jungle-lize (hehe) your classroom? I'd love to read about it! :)
